Transmission Projects - Oakville to Alliance 230kV Transmission Line Project
Construction starts March 1 on the Oakville-Alliance
transmission project, the third part of a multi-million dollar
program to enhance the reliability of service to Plaquemines
Parish customers and meet the needs of a growing economy.
The overall program involves a series of projects to build a
230 kV transmission path between the Peters Road substation in
Jefferson Parish and the Alliance substation. The first project
involved expanding the Peters Road substation to supply the new
230 kV line. The second project involved rebuilding the Oakville
substation to serve as a new 230/14kV distribution substation
and constructing a new 230 kV transmission line between the
Peters Road and Oakville substations.
Now underway is the third project, which involves
construction of a 10.5-mile 230 kV transmission line between the
Oakville substation, which is off Walker Road in Belle Chasse,
and the Alliance substation, located west of Louisiana Highway
23 near the Phillips 66 refinery. Construction is expected to be
complete between mid-December 2017 and February 2018.
